Queralt Lahoz & Marta Knight Proudly Represented Spain at SXSW “Sounds from Spain”

by Natasha Melina

Spain is known for showcasing original and diverse musical artists from their country that, together with gastronomy, make the participation of Sounds from Spain an innovative and creative showcase to present to the public attending the conference in Austin, Texas.

Sounds From Spain is the platform created to support, promote and strength the Spanish music industry around the world, fostered by public institutions as ICEX-Spain Exportation and Investments- and INAEM -National Institute of Music and Performing Arts – and private entities: AIE, SGAE Foundation, ARTE, PROMUSICAE and UFI.

Two talented Spanish artists who performed at the showcase were Queralt Lahoz and Marta Knight, get to know them better through our interview with them down below!

Queralt Lahoz’s music is permeated by Latin and urban sounds: soul, hip hop, trap and dancehall dialogue gracefully and naturally over an aura of coplas and boleros that emerge spontaneously in an irrepressible revelation of their origins.

Her debut album, “Pureza de la Catalana,” came out in 2021 and came accompanied by the focus track “‘De la cueva a los Olivos.”

Marta Knight will soon be releasing her debut EP, “Strange Times Together.” The title of the EP is the same name as her latest single and music video.

Last month was her first time playing in the US at SXSW in Austin, TX on March 16 & 17. Proud of representing Spain in the “Sounds from Spain” showcases at SXSW in Austin during the week of music. It’s the 15th year that Sounds from Spain has participated.
