A hidden gem located in the entrance of Riverbank State Park in West Harlem, New York City with a breathtaking view of the northern part of Manhattan (Video) and a welcoming ambiance, Sofrito New York is the place to be. With a versatile location for either a romantic date or dining with good company, you will not regret stepping into this fabulous place . Chef Frank Maldonado, Executive Chef of Sofrito New York, Sofrito White Plains and Sazon makes it a point to create a cuisine that has a comforting Grandmother’s kitchen taste to it with a gourmet trend setter appeal. Born and raised, literally, in a kitchen in Puerto Rico he learned through his experiences that the best “sazon” in a meal is love and happiness. After trying a few delicious dishes and drinks, I have to agree, I felt the love and was very happy.
From the eclectic Latin sushi, Sofrito Roll, stuffed with succulent shrimp, pineapple and mofongo, to the beautifully served Sofrito Paella that overflowed with delectable fresh seafood. I was in awe of the diversity and artistic elements in these mouthwatering dishes. When speaking with Chef Frank, I asked him what is the essence of his ingredients and what is his goal in having a satisfied customer, he responded, “We keep it organic. Our ingredients are all fresh. We blend our famous sofrito seasoning in our own kitchen. However, I think it’s important to not only cook good and with flavor but to cook what the customer likes and enjoys. Our goal is to make you feel at home and happy.” Point taken! After an amazing meal, I stepped over to the beautiful bar and was introduced to their signature drink, Guns N’ Roses, a strong but smooth finish cocktail that will have you dancing in no time! Stop by and you might catch dinner and a show, as Chef Frank Maldonado has a passion for music that he loves to surprise his guest with every now and then.
