Puerto Rico is the backdrop for the film PERFECTO ANFITRION starring international recording artist Pedro Capo alongside Sandra Echeverria

San Juan, Puerto Rico – The Puerto Rican film industry continues to be active andgrowing at a steady pace regardless of the challenges it has faced over the past years. The movie PerfectoAnfitrion“Perfect Host” is the latest cinematic thriller bet to hit US theaters on Thursday, November 18.
The film is about three friends who go on a island vacation, they are greeted by the handsome and single host of the house they rented, Ángel, played by Pedro Capó. The trip that promises to be quite an adventure, takes a different turn when Clara is interested in learning more about the case of the disappearance of a teenager named Anita, which is forgotten by the police department and Héctor, the drunk neighbor with a history violent that he had an eagerness to observe the girls from his window.
 On the other hand, Monica faces her emotional problems by being in a relationship with a man much older than her, while Lorena focuses on her only priority of having a good time. The plot intensifies when Clara begins to investigate what is happening on the Island. Intrigue and suspense are served up in heavy doses in this thriller that was filmed entirely in Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico, known as La Isla del Encanto or the Enchanted Island, was undoubtedly the
“perfect host” for this film, not only because of the island’s variety of locations, but also due to the talent and excellent production team put together to make this film possible. The economic effect of filming in Puerto Rico resulted in much needed work for over 100 film industry workers.

International Recording Artist and Grammy Winner PEDRO CAPO

The film stars a stellar cast that includes international recording Puerto Rican artist/actor, Pedro Capó, winner of Latin GRAMMY and ASCAP awards. Pedro Capó carries music in his DNA. He is the grandson of legendary, Bobby Capó, In 2018, Pedro Capó was consecrated as a world star with the hit, “Calma (Remix)”, including the participation of Farruko, who is single Diamond certified in the United States, Mexico, & Peru and multi-platinum in LATAM and Europe. The song has managed to surpass 4.1 billion streams and 1.8 billion combined views (Calma, Calma (Remix), Calma (Alicia Keys Remix).  Capó not only distinguishes himself as a singer-songwriter, but his talent also shines as an actor. He stood out on stage as part of the cast of ‘Celia: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz,’ presented in New York in both English and Spanish. He participated in “Sol de Media Noche,” which won the prestigious Golden Dragon Award at the 2019 Ferrara Film Festival in Italy, and starred in ‘The Sweet Spot’, ‘Shut Up And Do It,’ and ‘Paraíso Travel’ directed by Simon Brand and starring John Leguizamo.

Echeverría stared her career as part of a musical group called Perfiles,  recording two albums and performing over 200 concerts.
In 2002, she made her debut as an actress in the soap opera, Súbete a Mi Moto, on  TV Azteca. In 2006, she starred in the telenovela Marina, a Telemundo production. She starred alongside David Zepeda in the telenovela La Fuerza del Destino in 2011. That same year, she released her first solo album, in which she composed eight of the thirteen songs, entitled “Sandra Echevarria” a Cheche Alara production.
2012 was a breakout year for her acting career as she landed a supporting role in the movie SAVAGES, directed by Oliver Stone. Echeverría plays Magdalena Sanchez, the daughter of Elena “La Reina” Sanchez, played by Salma Hayek.  The cast also included Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Blake Lively, John Travolta, and Benicio del Toro. In 2013, Echeverría landed a role as Sara Vega in the American series, The Bridge. She also appeared in an episode of the CBS network highly-rated show, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders in 2017.
Also in 2017, Echeverría was part of the series, La Querida del Centauro, from Telemundo and Sony Pictures Television. She starred in dual roles as twin sisters, Paola and Paulina, in  La Usurpadora on Amazon’s Prime streaming channel in 2019. In the telenovela, La Bandida Sandra played the main character, Graciela Olmos.

Luis Roberto Guzmán, also known as Luis Ro, is an actor and singer. In the beginning, he tried to enter the musical group Menudo, with no luck. Eventually, he established friendship with the former members. Later, he entered the University of Puerto Rico in Río Piedras where he studied Drama.
He moved to Mexico in 1999 in search of a career as a telenovela actor and continued studying with Patricia Reyes Spíndola at the Centro Estudios Artísticos de Televisa (CEA).
In Mexico, Guzmán received a contract with Televisa, stating that the most important role of his career so far had been that of El Pantera, a television series. Guzman would continue in the series for 3 seasons.
He would later be cast in the film production of  “Ladies Night” for which he received a nomination for the “Silver Goddess” award given by the Cinematographic Journalists of Mexico A.C. (Pecime) in the Male Revelation category.

Laura Alemán  was born in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, daughter of the singer, Marissa Alemán. Wanting to experiment with acting, she joined the company of Polimnia, only to end up completely in love causing her to join a talent agency. After only two months, she had already recorded her first commercial for Radio Shack Latin America and booked her first movie with director, Marcos Zurinaga. With early success, Laura decided to try her luck in New York and to continue her education at Hunter College majoring in drama.
In 2011, she was the only Puerto Rican contestant who participated in Univision’s Protagonistas La reality. Alemán won that Univision reality show  receiving an exclusive one-year contract  and a role in  ” El Talismán,” alongside Blanca Soto and Aarón Díaz.
Alemán’s upcoming projects include a starring role in Vicente Castro’s next film, Pacto de Silencio. Laura  wants to continue acting in US and international productions. She also wants to develop workshops for young actors to help them deal with inequality in the theater and film industries. Laura will soon begin a master’s degree in the United States.

Alejandra Espinoza is a Mexican-American beauty queen, model, and TV presenter. She won the first year of Univision’s beauty contest/reality television show, Nuestra Belleza Latina. In 2007, after winning a contract with the Univision network, she joined the show, El Gordo y la Flaca as a correspondent and guest co-host. In February 2008, Espinoza became a model and co-presenter on Univision’s hit show, Sabado Gigante, starring Don Francisco. In July 2014, after 6 years of working on Sabado Gigante and appearing in 333 weekly shows, she left to pursue other projects in Hollywood. In the same year, she served as co-host of Nuestra Belleza Latina and Univision announced that she would be the host of a new reality show and singing competition called La Banda .

Modesto Lacen is a Puerto Rican actor who graduated magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico. Early in his career, he dabbled in radio. His breakout role was playing Pedro Knight, the husband of the legendary iconic artist, Celia Cruz. Modesto co-starred in the off-Broadway production of Celia: Life Of Celia Cruz which sold out in its first run in New York City, Miami, Chicago, and Spain. He would also star in Netflix’s Celia where he once again played Pedro Knight. Modesto also played the great baseball player, Roberto Clemente, in a play that ran in NYC at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre and in Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. Modesto’s international appeal is in part due to his ability to work in four languages, which include Spanish, English, Portuguese and French.

 

Perfecto Anfitrion “Perfect Host” was directed by Ariel Annexy Labault. He is a director, producer, and cinematographer. He has worked on the following films: Prótesis as director (2019), La última gira as producer, (2021), and Fistful of Dirt as production manager (2018).

Executive producer, Gustavo Aparicio, CEO of Spanglish Movies expressed that Perfecto Anfitrion “Perfecto Host” has already scheduled its premiere in the United States on a premium streaming platform, PANTAYA, Premieres in theaters in Mexico and Latin America will be scheduled soon. Perfecto Anfitrion “Perfecto Host” written by Joaquín Casasola is the winner of the National Prize for Communication Thesis  granted by the National Council for Teaching and Research in Communication Sciences (CONEICC).
In 2004, Casasola’s novel, Duele Más el Viento,  obtained the honorable mention of the “Juan Rulfo de Nuevos Narradores” Prize awarded by the National Council for Culture and the Arts (Conaculta) and the government of Tlaxcala (Mexico). In 2007, he published his novel, Ley Garrote, for which he won the L H Confidencial International Black Nobel Prize in Spain. In November 2011, he was awarded Best Author of the Year at the Festival and Market of International TV-Fiction 2011 (FYMTI) for his series of novels, El Sexo Weak, produced by Argos Comunicación and Sony Pictures Television. In that same year, he published La Sicaria de Polanco, and in 2013, he published La Senda del Mexica. He recently won the III International Latin Contact Novel Contest. He is currently a professor of Literary Creation at the National Autonomous University Of Mexico .

David Rodríguez Labault, better known by his stage name Sie7e, is a Puerto Rican-American singer songwriter who produced the soundtrack for Perfecto Anfitrion “Perfect Host.”
In 2005, he decided to dedicate himself to music, releasing his first self-titled album the following year. Subsequently, he would release two more albums, the last of them entitled, Much Good Thing, in 2011.
Sie7e  signed with Warner Music Latina and won the Latin Grammy for Best New Artist. In 2011, he presented “Tengo tu Love“, the first single from his third album, “Mucha cosa Buena,” He won Latin Grammy for “Best Alternative Song” and for the 40 Principales Awards in Spain for Best Song of the Year by an International Artist, among other awards.
Labault was also nominated for two Latin Grammys, winning the “Best New Artist” category. 2014 marked his return with his fourth album, Relax (Warner Music Latino), in which the hit, “So What” and his new single, “Tocando el cielo” were released. The production boasts a wealth of retro and modern sounds. In 2015, he premiered the video for “A proof of love,” his last single. The music video, which was recorded in San Juan, begins with the following message: “The way we get and enjoy music has changed, but we who love music know that what is still cannot be replaced or pirated is the experience of the live concert ”.
Cabeza was created by two brothers, film director, Ariel and musician, David, to create music videos for the latter’s musical project: Sie7e, which went on to win a Latin Grammy and was signed by Warner Music Latina. The name of the company can be translated as “head” and refers to the idea of different creative team members coming together as one mind. Producciones Cabeza has been rendering services to Hollywood film and TV productions in Puerto Rico for over 15 years, either as a vendor or as the local producer, helping studios and US production companies benefit from the highest tax incentives of any other US territory.
Producciones Cabeza is now becoming a local creative power house, working for clients like Sony Crackle, Telemundo, and Netflix. The company is uniquely qualified to work with the best local talent in developing formats both in Spanish and English for US Hispanic market and Latin America.
